THREE OLD MONK POEMS (271)

WHAT YOU HOLD

What you hold onto
is what keeps you
from flying,

the old monk told
his new students.

~

THE OLD HERMITS

The old hermits
on the mountain

talk to the spirits.
At night, sometimes,

that's what your hear,
their moaning,

the old monk said.

~

THE MONK'S ROBE

The monk's robe
is only

for the monk.
No one else

can wear the
spirits stitched

into it.
