IN THE ECSTATIC
In the ecstatic moment
are all other moments,
or none of them,
the old monk says.

THE OLD PINE
The old pine
is no less
a god
than the stone
beneath it,
the old monk says,
even as
the stone is
all the god
there is.

ON THE MOUNTAIN
On the mountain
you can honor
all gods or
the one and
only god,
for the mountain
makes no such
distinctions,
the old monk says.
