THREE OLD MONK POEMS (4)

SOMETIMES I MUST

Sometimes I must
put on the hood

of loneliness,
the old monk says,

so I can hear
the world singing.

~

HA!

Ha! the old monk said,
these days I write them
faster than I can
gather them. That's why
they're scattered on the floor.

~

NO MORE

No more tonight
than last night,
the old monk said,
counting the stars.

~
